PLANET ROLL CALL
Eight planets in our Solar
System,
Listen as the teacher lists
them:
Mercury? Here! Number one,
The small one’s closest to the
Sun.
Venus? Here! Number two,
Shinig brightly, like brand
new.
Earth? Here! Number three,
The perfect home for you and
me.
Mars? Here! Number four,
Red, will be next to be
explored.
Jupiter? Here! Number five,
Gassy giant, that is no jive!
Saturn? Here! Number six,
White rings of dust and ice
that mix.
Uranus? Here! Number seven,
Dark rings tilted high in
heaven.
Looks small because the
distance is great.

AUTUMN
When the pumpkins are so yellow
And the vines with grapes abound,When the melons are so mellow
And the nuts fall to the ground;
When persimmons lose their bitters,
And the apples are so red;
When we love to eat corn fritters
Since the roasting ears have fled;
When vacation days are over
And the children go to school,
They no longer play in clover,
But much learn "Arithmos-rule,"
When weird Hallowe'en's most naughty elves
With gnomes and sprites appear,
While fat Thanksgiving fills the shelves -
'Tis AUTUMN, QUEEN OF YEAR.
PLURALS
Change loaf to loaves
and elf to elves
leaf to laeaves
and shelf to shelves.
Change child to children
man to men
but just add "s"
to pan and hen.
Deer and moose
you'll need to keep
the way they are
the same with sheep.
Change church to churches,
box to boxes,
glass to glasses,
fox to foxes.
Mouse to mice,
foot to feet
goose to geese
tooth to teeth.
Then turn potato to potatoes
as with heroes and tomatoes.
Puppy to puppies,
berry to berries,
baby to babies,
cherry to cherries.
Finally,
add "s" alone
to cup and kitten,
cup and bone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Nuts and noses, rain a roses.
Olga, oats and Mrs Brown,
Uncle Jim and Arizona,
Notice these are each a noun!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM: "BREATHE IN"
Breathe in
breathe out!
Breathe in,
breathe out!
All day air goes
in you lungs, out your nose.
Inhale,
Exhale!
Inhale,
Exhale!
Wide awake, fast asleep
day and night you keep
breathing in,
breathing out
you don't even think about!
Breathing in,
Breathing free,
Breathing involuntarily!
------------------------------------------------------
AUTUMN
Down down
yellow and brown
the leaves are falling
over the town.
September is a time
of beginning of all
beginning of school
and beginning of fall.
Sunflower children
nod to the sun
summer is over
fall has begun.
Off to school
we go together
in September's sunny weather.
"Come little leaves"
said the wind one day
"come over the meadows
with me and play".
Put on your dresses
of red and gold
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold.
------------------------------------------------------
ANIMALS' BABIES
A mallard has a duckling,
a camel has a calf,
as do a cow and buffalo,
a bison and a giraffe.
An eagle has an eaglet,
a badger tends a kit
cats and beavers use their mouths
to pick their kittens up.
A rabbit has a bunny
wolves and dogs a pup
a kangaroo has quite a pouch
a joey lives in it.
A horse is what a newborn foal
becomes when it gets big,
A fawn grows to a full-sized deer,
a piglet to a pig.
